The Green Albert Park, Park Crescent, Abingdon OX14 1DF
Affiliated to BOWLS ENGLAND and The Royal Berkshire County Bowling Association

Founded in 1913 as a Mens Club then in 1971 Ladies were admitted to play. The Club welcomes all members irrespective of age or abilities.
The Green is leased from Christs Hospital a charity who are the custodians of the Park. The Park was created in Victorian Times and has over 300 specimens of trees.
Abingdon has been part of Oxfordshire since the boundary changes in 1974, but along with other clubs remains affiliated to The Royal Berkshire County Bowling Association.

An invitation to non-members and beginners

If you would like to come along to the Club between May and September and have a look, please feel free at any time. You'll find the club in use most afternoons, evenings or weekends. There is plenty of seating around the green for spectators-after all, what could be more relaxing on a warm summer's afternoon than watching a game of bowls? Visitors are welcome.
If you wish to try your hand at bowls, you'll need to be accompanied by a playing member and pay the appropriate Green Fee. The best thing to do is to contact the Secretary or one of the Club Officals, who will arrange for you to have an introductory session.

Club bowls, shoes, mats and jacks are available for beginner bowlers to use. New bowlers are encouraged to take some instruction - coaching sessions can be arranged, and you'll always find other bowlers prepared to offer guidance and encouragement. Coaching sessions for beginners are held on Fridays from 6:00pm during May but they have to be booked with the coaches.

If you wish to join the Club you will need to complete an application form also available from the Secretary.

Playing Opportunities

Most weekends we have friendly matches, mainly mixed but there are the occasional men's and ladies, against other local clubs.
The Ladies also have midweek matches against other local clubs.
The ladies compete in the Berkshire RIDGEWAY League and the men in the Berkshire KL and KLX Leagues.

Facilities

Our six-rink green is one of the finest Greens in the area, and our clubhouse and bar offers a friendly welcome and excellent facilities for our bowling and social members.

The Green opens daily from 12:00 noon to dusk from the end of April until late September. Changing rooms are located next to the green and there are separate facilities for Gentlemen and Ladies. Within the changing rooms lockers are available to members on application to the Treasurer. Notice boards in the clubhouse carry details of competition draws, team selection notices and any other information that may be of interest to members.

Our clubhouse and bar is open to members throughout the season, and our social committee organises occasional nights of live entertainment and other fun nights.
